A quiet week of housekeeping
After a big week of moving house, this one was deliberately small. There’s nothing new to try on a walk, and nothing new in Suburb Historian. Here’s what did happen.
Under the hood: keeping our tools current
The library we use to understand where walkers and historians get stuck (it counts screen visits, never the stories or places themselves) had been flagged as out of date. It’s now updated in the iPhone app, the API, and Suburb Historian. You shouldn’t notice a thing, but it means we keep seeing the places people trip up, which is how the next round of improvements gets chosen.
Under the hood: a more honest cost report
Running Story Trail costs real money, and we keep a small daily report so it doesn’t creep up on us. This week we fixed it double-counting the month so far when it forecast the month’s total, so the forecast was running higher than reality. It’s a fix for our own peace of mind, but it helps us keep the app affordable for the families and historical societies using it.
